Meeting Minutes
President Ryan Jilek called meeting to order with 6 members present: Barry Braun, Jared Haas, Marv Runge, Todd Sadowsky, Ryan Jilek and Curt Buresh.
Financial Report
Todd reported that we currently have $2414.88 in the checking account. This is a nice increase from past years.
Jared made a motion to approve the financial report.
Barry seconded the motion.
Motion passed.
Funfly Recap
The funfly went well. We had a good turnout. The food was excellent as in the past years.
We made around $400.00 from the event.
There was one issue at the event. One person grabbed the wrong frequency card. They grabbed 60 thinking it was 09. This issue caused 1 plane to crash and another one was destroyed. We have resolved this issue by drawing lines under the numbers. Luckily no one was injured and the 2 parties involved resolved the issue without incident.
Bills
Some bills were brought forth from Barry, Todd and the funfly.
$54.41 – Wheel bearing
$21.84 – Switch repair
$492.00 – Mulligans
$20.50 – Vals Sanitation
$149.63 – Fuel
$56.93 – Todd reimbursement from funfly.
Jared motioned to pay the bills and reimburse Barry and Todd.
Marv seconded the motion.
Motion passed.
Barry informed us that A1 Sprinklers has been storing the tractor since late November for the winter in a storage unit. He requested some sort of reimbursement.
Curt made a motion to pay $65.00 for one month of storage as reimbursement for the storage.
Jared seconded the motion.
Motion passed.
New Flying Field
Ryan posed the question regarding what we want to do with the new field. Our lease on the current field is up and the city isn’t just going to wait for us. We need to make a decision on what we want to do. It was brought out that there has been less and less member participation. The 6 or less that show up at the monthly meetings can’t do the work that needs to be done to get a new field off the ground. We need the participation of the entire club. It was brought out that only 2 of the 6 at the meeting actually made it out to the field to fly outside of the funfly. Those 2 only made it out a total of 4 times. So the work we are putting in is being enjoyed by the rest of the club without any effort. If we don’t do anything it is very possible we may not have a flying field by the end of the year. After a long discussion it was decided to table the idea of a new flying field and hope we don’t get kicked off of our current field. If we do get kicked out, maybe this will help get the rest of the club involved enough to go out and get a new field.
New Business – Election of Officers
We have 4 open seats this year. Those seats are as follows: Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Field Manager. These are all 2 year terms except Field Manager which is a 1 year term.
Jared was nominated for a second term as Vice President.
Barry was nominated for a second term as Field Manager.
Jeff Klemm was nominated for Secretary/Treasurer.
Barry motioned to cease nominations.
Marv seconded the motion.
Motion passed. Officers elected as noted above.
Dues
Barry made a motion to keep the dues at $40.00 this year.
Todd seconded the motion.
Motion passed.
Todd made a motion to adjourn.
Curt seconded the motion.
Motion passed.

The 2008 Ribeye Funfly is now history and what a great couple of days! The weather was absolutely perfect for the weekend and there was a ton of flying going on. Over 100 flight tickets were distributed Saturday and Sunday so there was very little time that something was not in the air.
The Ribeye’s were bigger than ever this year and really capped off a great Saturday. I’m pretty sure that noone was hungry after all was said and done.
There was a little wind that come up for an hour or so while we were eating but ended up perfectly calm for the evening. We flew as long as we could in the daylight but then turned on the lights and kept flying!
All in all it was a ton of fun and I really want to thank all of you that attended, our sponsors and all those that put in the time and effort to make the event happen! Thanks!
Here are some photos with hopefully some video coming soon. Enjoy!

Friday Night Ribeye Funfly Report
10:20 pmWell the flying is finished for the evening and it wasn’t necessarily an evening without incident. About 6:00 a very nice and much needed rain shower rolled though. Ended up with about 1/2 an inch of rain in a half hour. The temps dropped to about 60 so it was a little chilly but it certainly didn’t keep people out of the air. They guys from Jamestown and Valley City put quite a few flights on and one ended a bit early for Mike with a stuck throttle. I guess one way to stop that screeming engine is to put the nose into the ground… :^) Probably not the preferred way but still quite effective and very impressive.
Kyle also was doing some high speed ‘top gun’ passes and ended up on the ground for a fairly nice landing but way too much speed and headed right into the catch fence.
There was a beautiful sunset to close things off for the night and the wind was a little high so we didn’t do any foamy flying….tomorrow! :^)
Doughnuts and coffee tomorrow morning to get this started at around 8:00. Hope to see you there.

On January 7th, 2008, Skout Krogh, a three-year-old Dickinson native, went to St. Joseph’s Hospital with unusual bruising and pale skin. After some testing at St. Joseph’s Hospital she was rushed to Bismarck. She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic Leukemia and was air-lifted to a children’s’ hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota. After more testing, including a spinal tap, Doctors inferred that Skout was lucky! The Leukemia hasn’t spread to her spine or brain. On Wednesday January 9th, 2008, Skout underwent her first treatment of Chemo therapy.
Skout will be traveling to Bismarck, ND two times a week for the next two years for Chemo treatment. Doctors believe that Skout is well on her way to reacquiring her health. She will literally be on the road to a full recovery.
A 50/50 raffle at the Dickinson High School hockey game held on January 29th, 2008, with proceeds going to the family. There will also be spaghetti feed/silent auction/bake sale held on February 12th at the Eagles Club in Dickinson with proceeds going to Skout and her family to help defray medical and traveling costs. The spaghetti feed will run from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and it will cost $6.00 for an adult and $4.00 for children 12 and under.
There has been an account set up for Skout at the Dakota Community Bank for people interested in donating. If interested, please make check payable to DCFS and put Skout Krogh in the memo box on the check. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Please help Skout by forwarding this information to everyone in your address book. If your able to please print a poster to post at your office, school or church.
Thank you!
There is Hope!
