On January 7th, 2008, Skout Krogh, a three-year-old Dickinson native, went to St. Joseph’s Hospital with unusual bruising and pale skin. After some testing at St. Joseph’s Hospital she was rushed to Bismarck. She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic Leukemia and was air-lifted to a children’s’ hospital in Minneapolis Minnesota. After more testing, including a spinal tap, Doctors inferred that Skout was lucky! The Leukemia hasn’t spread to her spine or brain. On Wednesday January 9th, 2008, Skout underwent her first treatment of Chemo therapy.
Skout will be traveling to Bismarck, ND two times a week for the next two years for Chemo treatment. Doctors believe that Skout is well on her way to reacquiring her health. She will literally be on the road to a full recovery.
A 50/50 raffle at the Dickinson High School hockey game held on January 29th, 2008, with proceeds going to the family. There will also be spaghetti feed/silent auction/bake sale held on February 12th at the Eagles Club in Dickinson with proceeds going to Skout and her family to help defray medical and traveling costs. The spaghetti feed will run from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and it will cost $6.00 for an adult and $4.00 for children 12 and under.
There has been an account set up for Skout at the Dakota Community Bank for people interested in donating.
