The 2008 Ribeye Funfly is now history and what a great couple of days! The weather was absolutely perfect for the weekend and there was a ton of flying going on. Over 100 flight tickets were distributed Saturday and Sunday so there was very little time that something was not in the air.
The Ribeye’s were bigger than ever this year and really capped off a great Saturday. I’m pretty sure that noone was hungry after all was said and done.
There was a little wind that come up for an hour or so while we were eating but ended up perfectly calm for the evening. We flew as long as we could in the daylight but then turned on the lights and kept flying!
All in all it was a ton of fun and I really want to thank all of you that attended, our sponsors and all those that put in the time and effort to make the event happen! Thanks!
Here are some photos with hopefully some video coming soon. Enjoy!

Friday Night Ribeye Funfly Report
10:20 pmWell the flying is finished for the evening and it wasn’t necessarily an evening without incident. About 6:00 a very nice and much needed rain shower rolled though. Ended up with about 1/2 an inch of rain in a half hour. The temps dropped to about 60 so it was a little chilly but it certainly didn’t keep people out of the air. They guys from Jamestown and Valley City put quite a few flights on and one ended a bit early for Mike with a stuck throttle. I guess one way to stop that screeming engine is to put the nose into the ground… :^) Probably not the preferred way but still quite effective and very impressive.
Kyle also was doing some high speed ‘top gun’ passes and ended up on the ground for a fairly nice landing but way too much speed and headed right into the catch fence.
There was a beautiful sunset to close things off for the night and the wind was a little high so we didn’t do any foamy flying….tomorrow! :^)
Doughnuts and coffee tomorrow morning to get this started at around 8:00. Hope to see you there.

MSMAC’s Skids UP Funfly Report
4:39 pmJuly 13-15th was the stage for Missouri Slope Model Aircraft Club’s 4th Annual Skids UP helicopter funfly. Weather was awesome and so was the flying. About 20 pilots were registered, some of which were plank flyers but put on a great show none the less.
We had our fill of buffalo wings on Friday night to start things off and fuel up for a action packed and event filled say Saturday. Lots of flying and some impressive demos from Troy and the Century Swift and Freestyle. Tony also showed us the maxamps batteries for the t-rex are also a very good cell and pack a punch. We also took some pictures from our helicopter camera ship of Tony flying his 40% Yak in some great air to air photo sessions!
Thanks for a great weekend!
Thanks to Rob Sigman from Beulah for volunteering to run the camera on the aerial shots.

Members gathered at the Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport for the “Planes on the Prairie” airport open house. About 15 airplanes and 8 helicopters were on display as well as a computer from Hometown hobbies for guests to try their hand at flying with Realflight G3. There was much interest in our hobby and the members present did a lot of visiting and promoting RC as well as the club.
Following the event at the airport many of the members met at the flying field to watch Eugene fly his recently acquired 44% Extra. Justin also put a few flights on his Raptor while there as well.
We also held the drawing for our Annual Raffle and the results are listed below.
Grand Prize - Hometown $400 gift certificate winner: Curt Buresh (club member)
First Prize - 12 Car Washes from Tiger Discount: Kathryn Jilek
Second Prize - $50 Consoidated Gift Certificate: Andy Jangula (club member)
Third Prize - First Aid Kit from Western Fire & Safety: Brendon Iverson
Congratulation to all!
The Raffle was a great success and the proceeds are very much appreciated!

Ribeye Funfly Report
1:50 pmThe 2006 Ribeye funfly is over and the members of Slope Area Golden Eagles would like to thank those who attended as well as the sponsors which all helped make this years funfly an overwhelming success! Pilots and guest enjoyed beautiful weather over the two days of both day and night flying. Night flying with a portable light plant donated by Western Fire & Safety was a plast and kept something in the air until around 11:00 pm both Friday and Saturday. Both days also featured a wide variety of flying from beginners to advanced pilots, airplanes to helis and flying styles from 3D to pattern to scale.
Divine Swine put on a hell of a meal on Satuday, grilling up some giant rib-eye steaks for pilots and guests. Besides the steaks they supplied all the fixings and their baked beans were absolutely top notch! Divine Swine definately helped make the Ribeye Funfly an event to remember!
Pictures from the past weekends SAGE Ribeye Funfly unfortunatly I was too anxious to cut into my steak and forgot to take some pictures of the delicious cut.
