Ribeye Funfly Report
1:50 pmThe 2006 Ribeye funfly is over and the members of Slope Area Golden Eagles would like to thank those who attended as well as the sponsors which all helped make this years funfly an overwhelming success! Pilots and guest enjoyed beautiful weather over the two days of both day and night flying. Night flying with a portable light plant donated by Western Fire & Safety was a plast and kept something in the air until around 11:00 pm both Friday and Saturday. Both days also featured a wide variety of flying from beginners to advanced pilots, airplanes to helis and flying styles from 3D to pattern to scale.
Divine Swine put on a hell of a meal on Satuday, grilling up some giant rib-eye steaks for pilots and guests. Besides the steaks they supplied all the fixings and their baked beans were absolutely top notch! Divine Swine definately helped make the Ribeye Funfly an event to remember!
Pictures from the past weekends SAGE Ribeye Funfly unfortunatly I was too anxious to cut into my steak and forgot to take some pictures of the delicious cut.

Williston Funfly Report
11:17 amA few SAGE members attended this years funfly in Williston over the past weekend. I think the last I looked at the registry there were 27 or 28 pilots who signed up for the weekend. Saturday produced a good opportunity to visit with other pilots and watch the wind blow! Wind was over 20 mph for most of the day and gusty (up to 39 recorded by the weather service) and variable in direction. Conditions made for pretty interesting flights and many of those who attempted flights ended them early with varying degrees of damage.
Sunday produced a very nice and almost ideal flying day with very little wind and cooler temps. The conditions produced a pretty busy day of flying with something in the air at almost every moment.
There still seems to be a lot of confusion about our Rib-eye funfly coming up the 22-23 of July. Most of the concerns, well all actually, seem to address the landing fees which we set at $35. There were people that thought this was just for the dinner, some thought it was for the flying only and the dinner was extra, others that this was our primary fundraiser (see SAGE Raffle here) etc. All of which are untrue!! Others really wanted us to change it back to potluck and lower the fees. I tried very hard to explain our budgeting process for the fee and that we wanted to try something a little different than just the typical funfly. The extra $15 is the amount the ribeye dinner is going to cost us over a simple potluck.
We are essentially trying to put on funfly that is something a little different while providing the best possible meal that can be presented without having to go to a steakhouse for it. So as members we really need to spread the word and try and explain what our funfly is all about and why WE created it!
Again the “landing fee” is just like any other funfly and includes flying both days, camping if needed (Friday as well), entry in the pilots doorprize drawings, Saturday’s dinner of which is Ribeye steaks off the award winning grill of Divine Swine and lunch on Sunday.
Enjoy the photos and remember our regular monthly meeting at Hometown Hobbies this Thursday, July 13th at 7:30 pm!

Well there was a bit going on over the 4th of July weekend and I certainly didn’t capture it all but here are some of the photos that I did take.
Kyle was out with the new Giles and doing very well with it as well. Justin put his new Mustang in the air as well as burned quite a bit of fuel in the Raptor too. Kyle’s daughter and my daughter were having quite a time playing there as well!
On Monday afternoon Troy Lapp (State AMA Representative) called up and said he wanted a place to burn some fuel with his helicopters. So we had a great time out there flying and watching him throw those heli’s around! We also had an interesting and somewhat ironic visitor when we showed up at the field. Dakota Helicopters had one of their Huey’s parked next to the tracks. Kind of interesting seeing it out there while we were there to fly helicopters!
